North Cornwall is a relatively unspoilt part of the most south western county of the United Kingdom and is never too busy, with lots of space, even at the height of the summer.

Bude lies on the Atlantic coast and by car is accessed from the A39 Atlantic Highway making Devon and most of Cornwall within an hours' drive.

To the north,  in Devon,  with its steep cobbled streets and pretty cottages lies the quaint  fishing village of Clovelly and on a little further, lies Hartland Point, which has some of the most beautiful views on the entire British coastline.

South of Bude, staying close to the coast, drive to and through some tiny fishing villages, Crackington HavenBoscastleTintagel, (the legendary home of King Arthur) and then on to Port Isaac, where Doc Martin is filmed.

For some gentle exercise, hire bikes at Wadebridge and cycle along the old railway line, the Camel Trail, which takes you either to Bodmin or Padstow

Further south there is Cornwalls' only cathedral city, Truro, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan
